A MESSAGE FROM SAGUN: AUSTIN’S DYNAMIC SPIRIT

Austin is a city of contrasts.

We’re experiencing rapid growth, yet striving to maintain our unique culture. As we navigate these changes, it’s essential to stay informed and engaged with our community.

Let’s dive into what’s happening this week.

🌡️ AUSTIN BRACES FOR RECORD-BREAKING HEAT

Central Texas is facing an intense and potentially historic heatwave this week. Forecasters predict a prolonged period of unseasonably high temperatures, with some areas possibly breaking May heat records.

In Austin, highs could reach between 102 and 103 degrees early in the week, just shy of the all-time May record of 104 degrees.

The National Weather Service warns of moderate to major heat-related health risks due to temperatures up to 20 degrees above normal.

This early-season heatwave signifies an anomalously warm end to spring across much of Texas.

🍔 MORENO BARBECUE EXPANDS WITH NEW BURGER CONCEPT

Moreno Barbecue, a popular Texas barbecue destination in South Austin, announced plans for significant expansion.

Owner and pitmaster Bo Moreno revealed that the current South Austin location at 5608 Menchaca Rd. will relocate its barbecue operations to Southpark Meadows.

The new site will feature a larger dining area, a covered patio, a full bar, and an expanded kitchen.

Meanwhile, the existing Menchaca Road location will be transformed into a brand-new restaurant concept: Moreno Burger Company.

This new venture will showcase the pitmaster’s popular brisket burgers, including a smoked half-pound version, a double-patty smashburger, and the El Jefean creation with jalapeños, bacon, pepper jack cheese, fried egg, queso, and guacamole.

🎭 AUSTIN UNDER 40 AWARDS HONOR EMERGING LEADERS
